ECDL
The European Computer Driving License is the internationally recognised qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. ECDL is the fastest growing IT user qualification in over 125 countries. The qualification is awarded when the learner shows competence in the seven modules. The modules are:

Word Processing (ECDL Module 3)
The candidate will learn to use a word processing application on a personal computer, understand and be able to accomplish basic operations associated with creating, formatting and finishing a document ready for distribution, demonstrate competence in using some of the more advanced features in word processing such as creating standard tables, using pictures and images, importing objects, and creating graphs and charts.
Spreadsheets (ECDL Module 4)
In business today organisations use Microsoft Excel to calculate and analyse data
in order for them to better understand how their organisations are performing.
This Excel course will provide you with the business essentials for using Excel
within your organisation from understanding formulas and absolute\relative cell
referencing to formatting spreadsheets and creating charts to make your work
look presentable.
-Create a basic worksheet by entering text and values.
-Work with cells and cell data by using a variety of moving and copying
techniques.
-Perform calculations on data by using formulas and functions.
- Change the appearance of worksheet data by using a variety of
formatting techniques.
-Use a variety of techniques to manipulate worksheets in a workbook.
-Create a basic chart.
-Apply numerous page display settings to prepare a worksheet for printing.
ECDL Module 4 Spreadsheets certification included in this course.
The cost of the ECDL Module 4 Spreadsheets exam is included within the cost of
the course.
Database (ECDL Module 5)
Microsoft Access is a relational database management system that provides the user with software tools to organise data in a flexible manner. This course is a Microsoft Access course that will provide you with the critical skills needed to work with data by using tables, queries, forms and reports as well as the concepts and theories about relational databases that are essential to working with these data repositories. Almost all users of Microsoft Access need to create queries; forms or reports and this course will get you started.
This course is designed for people interested in gaining the skills necessary to use Access effectively.

The cost of the ECDL Module 5 exam is included in the cost of the course.
Information and Communication (ECDL Module 7)
Information and Communication is divided into 2 sections.
The first section - Information, requires you to accomplish basic Web search tasks using a Web browser application and available search engine tools, to bookmark search results and to print Web pages and search reports.
The second section - Communication, requires you to demonstrate your ability to use electronic mail software to send and receive messages, to attach documents or files to a message and to organise and manage message folders or directories within electronic mail software.
The training within this module takes the form of theory notes and practical based activities
The cost of the ECDL Module 7 exam is included in the cost of the course.
Digital Skills
This is a new qualification aimed at giving people basic skills such as social surfing and using a computer for photos, music and videos.
The qualification covers.
Basic digital literacy covering a combination of basic IT user skills such as introduction to a computer and developing online skills.
Digital media skills such as how to use a digital camera and use music software and mobile music devices.
The course also touches on more complex tasks such as digital editing of videos and sharing digital media online.
The course also covers an introduction to social networking, in particular Facebook.
The course is tutor led, on line learning and is suitable for learners of all ages.

PC Passport is made up of National Units and is a Scottish Progression Award (SPA). It is a flexible and inclusive scheme and is designed for the absolute novice.
These courses are vocational focusing on industry-standard software and skills.
PC Passport is designed for anyone who wants to develop or improve their IT skills.
Word- Intermediate 1 (PC Passport)
This unit will enable candidates to develop basic word processing skills.
Candidates will also acquire simple skills relating to computer hardware and software.
Word- Intermediate 2 (PC Passport)
This unit is designed to develop routine word processing skills to a level expected in the workplace. The aim of this unit is to prove that the candidate is able to use a number of word processing tools to produce documents in a variety of layout styles, and formatting, of a type and standard commonly required in a modern business situation, and to demonstrate file and folder management.
Spreadsheets - Intermediate 1 (PC Passport)
This unit is designed to enable candidates to develop basic spreadsheet skills. Candidates will learn to create and print a simple spreadsheet (such as a budget. )Candidates will also acquire simple skills relating to computer hardware and software.
Spreadsheets - Intermediate 2 (PC Passport)
This unit is designed to develop routine spreadsheet skills to a level expected in the workplace. The aim of this unit is to prove that the candidate is able to use a number of tools to create a spreadsheet model and analyse data, commonly required in a modern business situation, and to demonstrate file and folder management.
Presentations - Intermediate 2 (PC Passport)
This unit is designed to enable candidates to develop and apply skills and knowledge to become proficient in performing everyday presentation tasks using appropriate software
Internet - Intermediate 1 (PC Passport)
This unit is designed to develop basic Internet skills. Candidates will learn to use a web browser to search for information and communicate using the Internet. Candidates will also acquire simple skills relating to computer hardware and software.
Internet - Intermediate 2 (PC Passport)
Candidates will learn to use a web browser to search for information and communicate using a range of Internet tools. Candidates will also acquire simple skills relating to computer hardware and software.

Internet for over 50s
This is an Introduction to the Internet aimed at the over 50's that enables individuals to learn the basics of searching or surfing the Web and sending e-mails. There are no tests, you will learn at your own pace in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with tutor support. The syllabus includes: Get on Line, Surfing the Internet, Stay in Touch, Find Information, Online Activities, Shopping on Line, Be Social & Protect Yourself.
Word Processing
Introduction to Word Processing using Microsoft Word 2003 enables the individual to learn the basics of creating, editing and formatting documents. Non certificated course where students learn at their own pace in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The course will cover basics such as keyboard skills, simple formatting, paragraph formatting, headers and footers and much more.

Card and Calendar making
On this short course the student will learn how to create their very own card and calendar using MS Publisher. They will learn how to add pictures and photos and to print the outcome. This is an ideal taster session to become more familiar with the creative uses of a computer. You will learn a variety of creative and transferable IT skills, which will range from being able to upload digital photographs on to a computer, re-sizing and manipulating photographs to printing with the ultimate aim of creating a greetings card or calendar. They will also develop skills to create posters/calendars importing pictures and text from one package to another. Students will use their knowledge to produce a calendar or poster for their own personal or business use.
