A new mural showing a window onto Stobswell has been produced by the young people attending the Arts and Crafts group at the No1 Cafe.

The view from BOOMERANG No.1's window is amazing – Baxter Park has never looked better! The ghost of the Tay Whale is splashing about in a puddle. A group of young footballers are seconds away from being beamed aboard a spaceship, but fear not – Stobie Man is patrolling the skies and is sure to put a stop to the Martians’ plan! If you look carefully, you can see Frankenstein and Dennis the Menace in the park, too!

Of course, this is not a real view but the product of a mural that members of BOOMERANG No.1's art club have been working on. Artists Andrew Maclean and Simon Reekie worked with the group to come up with ideas and plan a mural. Young art club member Ellie-Jean came up with the idea of a window to another place; the other members of the club thought Baxter Park was an ideal scenic local spot. They also came up with ideas for the painted views in front of and behind the window. A cat sits on a shelf looking out at the birds, while Ellie-Jean peers back in to the BOOMERANG club. Artist Amanda Lambert, supported by the art club members, made the ideas come to life! The young artists helped Amanda draw and paint the wall, creating an artwork that is fun and celebrates the local area.
