Boomerang welcomes the involvement of volunteers to our organisation because of the unique qualities they bring to our services and as part of the community we are trying to serve they are a vitally important part of our organisation. We believe everyone has a contribution to make to their community and we welcome them to make that contribution with us.

Boomerang find that there are many good reasons to involve volunteers in our work, this includes extending and adding value to the services we provide within the community. Volunteers at Boomerang work alongside staff to asist the organisation deliver its goals. By involving local people in the design and delivery of services we aim to achieve a more personal and responsive service to the local community.

When someone volunteers, they offer themselves with the aim of doing something for other people within the local community. They are willing to spend some of their time unpaid, working for an organisation. It is important to remember that this is not simply a one way transaction. In return for your time, quality and skills, attatude and experience the scheme can offer you clearly defined work experience, supervision, training and expences. Also as a volunteer you will have the opportunity to meet new people, gain new experiences and get real job satisfaction.

What can you gain from volunteering?

As a volunteer you will be giving your time to help us improve the lives of people within the local community, but voluntering can help you with many benefits including-

  • The chance to have fun doing something you have never tried before.
  • Increased confidence.
  • A sense of satisfaction and achievement.
  • The opportunity to make new friends with diverse backgrounds and experience.
  • Increased job and career prospects and gain new skills - over 70% of employers would hire a candidate with volunteering experience over someone who has never volunteered.
